Lorraine Kelly was left flustered when she revealed that she woke up three hours earlier than usual after convincing herself that she had missed her morning alarm. After realising her mistake, the popular presenter went back to bed and managed to sleep in for the first time, leaving her mortified.
Taking to Twitter, the award-winning host, 63, shared a picture of her clock and alarm and wrote: “So this is a first. Woke – convinced I’d slept in – super fast shower – threw on clothes and then looked at the time properly…”
When she realised her mistake, the star went back to bed to grab a few more hours of shut-eye and for the first time, she did miss her alarm.
Posting: “So after getting up early – I’ve managed for the FIRST time to sleep in – YIKES!!!” (sic)
Friends and fans quickly flocked to her page to leave comments on both posts with fellow presenter Laura Tobin writing: “Noooo.”
Another poster said: “Bless you, conscious mind while sleeping can be exhausting, to say the least. Early night tonight L.”
Lorraine’s sleep-in mishap comes just days after fans of her show threatened to “switch off” because of the regular coverage surrounding Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Some viewers became tired of negative coverage and took to social media to express that they were sick of hearing about the couple. One poster wrote: “I’m off, I can’t stand listening to any more of this cr*p about Harry and Meghan. #lorraine.”
While another added: “Just turned #Lorraine on and immediately turned it off again. Why are we still talking about Meghan and Harry!”
Another disgruntled fan said: “Get over it now and move on! #MeghanandHarryNetflix.”
She continued: “They’ve got to then build their own lives…and for goodness sake, they’ve got two gorgeous healthy children.”
“They love each other very much, they have a beautiful big house. It’s like enough already, enough, enough!”
Lorraine also felt that Harry should be invited to his father King Charles’s coronation in the new year.
Speaking to royal editor Russell Myers on Monday she said: “Should they or shouldn’t they attend the coronation? A lot of people saying they shouldn’t but come on, if Prince Andrew is gonna be there.
“If dodgy heads of state, and you know how dodgy they are, if they’re gonna be there at the coronation – of course, they should be there. Surely?
