Lorraine Kelly wasted no time tearing into Russian President Vladimir Putin amid the worsening conflict between Russia and Ukraine whilst appearing The Last Leg.

The Last Leg returned on Friday night with Josh Widdicombe, Adam Hills and Alex Brooker on hand to offer up all their honest takes of the week so far.

TV favourite Lorraine returned as a guest on the much-loved Channel 4 programme in which the hosts fail to shy away from difficult topics.

Of course, Russia/Ukraine conflict was at the top of the agenda, with the latter nation now under heavy attack with troops pouring in and bombs heard across several cities.

Host Adam asked Lorraine: ‘How is World War Three going for you?’

She quickly replied: ‘Oh my god. We’re just getting out of the darkness of Covid into the light and then, wham.

‘I wonder, what is going on with this odd, strange, nutty person that is Putin. What is going on?

‘You have to ask yourself, what is the end game here?’ Lorraine remarked.

Turning to Josh, she said: ‘You were worried about [Putin] not being angry, you can’t tell.

‘You can’t tell anything with him because he’s had so much work done – allegedly – that his face, is just so weird. It looks like a candle has melted, and then hardened.

The TV presenter went on to make a comparison to film House of Wax, noting of character Vincent Price: ‘He had a face like that, the someone battered him and there was a horrible monster underneath.

‘It’s very rare that someone says you’re too young to remember something isn’t it,’ Alex weighed in.

‘You’re only a child, it’s like something out of Game of Thrones. I don’t understand why this would be happening, I feel like I’m living through the worst dream,’ she replied.

‘I like how you said ‘allegedly’ because you’re worried Vladimir Putin is going to take time out from the war to sue you,’ Josh joked.

‘Obviously, he has, nobody’s got a face like that, weren’t born with that wee face I don’t think,’ Lorraine concluded.

It came just hours after the talk show host was criticised for her segue from an interview, where she said of the conflict: ‘Life does go on.’

She spoke to Good Morning Britain’s chief correspondent Richard Gaisford, while he was reporting live from Kyiv, before moving straight on to Avril Lavigne.

After she thanked Gaisford for the updates, the host took a deep breath before welcoming the Skater Boi singer: ‘Right, well life does go on and she is the original pop-punk princess.

‘She’s sold over 40 million albums and now Avril Lavigne is back with brand-new music,’ she added.

The Last Leg airs Fridays from 10pm on Channel 4.
