Lord Sugar ‘struggling’ to grasp plot of Peaky Blinders in hilarious putdown

Lord Sugar is having trouble getting his head around the plot of yet another programme after famously criticising BBC’s The Responder earlier this year.

Peaky Blinders is currently airing its sixth and final season, with the Shelby family facing their toughest challenges yet.

There has been a return from Alfie Solomons (Tom Hardy), and introductions from characters Diana Mitford (Amber Anderson) and Jack Nelson (James Frecheville) in what was previously dubbed the show’s ‘darkest’ season.

However, it seems someone who can’t keep up with the changes the final season has brought with it is Lord Sugar, who admitted his confusion over the plot.

He told his followers: ‘Struggling a bit with Peaky Blinders. Also seen Ep 1 Killing Eve season 4 in USA.

‘I think they are going over the top in both programmes with far too complicated (and confusing) plots.’

Obviously, this was quickly mocked by some fans, who couldn’t resist the opportunity to tear into his own show, The Apprentice.

Writing on Twitter, one commented: ‘I’m struggling with the Apprentice and Spurs.’

‘I’ve given series 1,280,245,345 of The Apprentice a miss because it’s the same as all the others before it!!’ another teased.

However, some fans did agree with his thoughts on two of the BBC’s biggest shows of recent years.

One said: ‘Killing Eve should of finished after its first series. British shows used to be about quality over quantity. Look at the “the bodyguard” limited series 6 episodes of TV perfection. Look at Fawlty towers 12 episodes of brilliance.’

‘100%. I was trying to make sense of it too. Kept having to rewind to work out the plot. Tad scrambled IMO,’ said another.

‘I agree with you. I can’t really get my head round Peaky Blinders at the moment,’ someone else added.

Back in January, Lord Sugar was hilariously irritated as he claimed he couldn’t understand a word of what Martin Freeman’s character Chris was saying, apparently due to his Scouse accent.

Taking to Twitter, The Apprentice star, 74, wrote: ‘Hard to follow what he and other cast are saying. No disrespect to people of Liverpool they are nice down to earth people.

‘My wife gave up watching she said she could not understand a word.’

He received a savage put down from the show’s creator Tony Schumacher, who is also a proud Scouser.

The TV writer tweeted: ‘I hope there’s something good on @ITV for @Lord_Sugar ‘s wife to watch instead of #theresponder.’

Peaky Blinders airs Sundays from 9pm on BBC One.
