Loose Women star is latest celeb to pull out of NTAs due to ‘suspected Covid’
LOOSE Women panelist Nadia Sawalha is the latest celebrity to pull out of this year’s National Television Awards because of illness.
The TV star, 57, is bedridden with mystery virus and is convinced it could be the latest strain of Covid-19.
Nadia and her Loose Women co-stars are up for the Best Daytime award at the NTAs. But she will not be there in person if they win.
In a new YouTube video filmed from her sickbed, Nadia held up her tickets and told fans that she is just too unwell to make it to London’s O2 Arena on Thursday night.
“Look what I just got delivered on a bike. It’s very fancy. National Television Awards,” she croaked.
“There it all is. Guess who won’t be going to the National Television Awards?”
Sighing, Nadia continued: “I’ve got such a lovely dress – I’ve got three lovely dresses I can choose from.
“My friend Simone was coming over to do my make-up, I’m supposed to be going with my friend Jordan in the car.
“Jane [Moore] and Kaye [Adams] are going. All the girls are going. Party afterwards. Nope.”
Nadia’s announcement comes after Geordie duo Ant and Dec pulled out of the NTAs after they both tested positive for Covid.
Former EastEnders star Nadia is also wondering if she has contracted coronavirus despite her tests coming up as negative.
“It’s just floored me,” Nadia admitted. “I am convinced that the tests that we have now don’t pick up the new strains of Covid.
“That’s what I think because it’s very similar in the way Covid was – you start to feel better and then you just get hammered again and just have to go to bed.
“Yesterday I literally laid in bed staring at the ceiling for three hours. I never do that!”
But the star, who has had Covid once before, concluded: “It’s like Kaye [Adams] said, at the end of the day what difference does it make now?
“Whatever it is, it’s just name isn’t it?”
The National Television Awards airs at 8pm, Thursday October 13 on ITV1
