Victoria and David Beckham are celebrating their 23rd wedding anniversary in July 2022.

It’s hard to believe so much time has passed – and even crazier to think that their son Brooklyn Beckham and new wife Nicola Peltz just had their own lavish ceremony this past April.

It was July 1999 when David and Victoria tied the knot in a stunning £750,000 event – roughly £1.2 million in 2022 – complete with iconic thrones and an epic outfit change.

Here’s all you need to know about their nuptials.

Where did Victoria and David Beckham get married?

The Beckhams went for a Robin Hood theme for their fairytale wedding, which took place just outside of Dublin, Ireland at Luttrellstown Castle – a venue dating back to 1794.

The 14-bedroom property sits on 560 acres and comes with its own golf course, while its towering stone wall surely meant they had plenty of privacy for their special day.

Sticking to the theme, the decor was on point with plenty of green, purple and burgundy, while there were plenty of apples weaved into an ivy arrangement through the banister.

The floral arrangements came from Simon Lycett – who worked on 1994’s Four Weddings and A Funeral – and John Plested, who took charge of The Queen’s ruby wedding anniversary in 1987.

Victoria’s dress, David’s white suit and that purple outfit change

Bride Victoria impressed in a strapless, floor-length satin Vera Wang gown for her special day.

The dress was said to have cost $100,000 – and is still in her closet waiting for 10-year-old daughter Harper’s future wedding, despite the fact the youngster called her mum’s Spice Girls fashion ‘unacceptable’.

Meanwhile, groom David opted for a striking white suit and matching cravat, which perfectly fit his 1990s boy band image at the time, while he also debuted some fresh highlights.

Naturally, there was an outfit change during the night, with the duo coming out in matching purple Antonio Berardi looks to cut the cake.

David isn’t quite so impressed by his own outfit nowadays, having told Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs: ‘I look like the guys out of Dumb & Dumber when they went to that party and wore those ridiculous outfits.

‘I even had a top hat in purple. Unbelievable. What was I thinking?’

Victoria’s crown and the couple’s golden thrones

It was a wedding fit for royalty, and the newly-crowned Victoria Beckham looked the part with her gold and diamond East of Paris tiara.

And of course, who could ever forget the pair sitting on their golden thrones? Truly magical!

The Beckhams’ celebrity guest list

Despite the grandeur of the wedding as a whole, the ceremony had a relatively intimate guest list, with just 29 guests in attendance as they exchanged their vows.

The wedding, which was officiated by the Bishop of Cork, Right Reverend Colton, took place in a small folly chapel at the castle.

As well as their family – including David’s parents and sisters, and Victoria’s parents and siblings – VB had Spice Girls trio Emma Bunton, Mel C and Mel B in attendance.

Meanwhile, David’s then-Manchester United teammate Gary Neville was his best man, and he gave a suitably emotional speech.

He said at one point: ‘He would come into training every day like a little schoolboy. You’d go a long way to find two people more in love.’

Their eldest child, son Brooklyn, had been born just a few months before the big day in March 1999, and he also featured during the ceremony – as a baby ringbearer. Aw!
