London’s O2 Arena has remained closed for Saturday after the roof of the venue was damaged by severe weather conditions from Storm Eunice.

The concert venue in Greenwich had part of the roof ripped off by high winds in the capital on Friday as Storm Eunice battered the UK.

A statement on the O2’s website had revealed that AP Dhillon’s planned concert on Friday at the Indigo would be postponed until February 22, but it is not known as yet when the venue will reopen to the public.

Dave is due to start two days of shows at the venue from Monday, February 21, while UB40 have a special show in memory of bandmate Astro, who died in November, booked for February 25.

A new statement from the O2 said on Saturday: ‘Following the damage from Storm Eunice yesterday, The O2 will sadly remain closed today.

‘We’re working hard to reopen as soon as possible, but everyone’s safety remains most important. If you have a booking today, please contact the venue you made it with directly to rearrange.’

It added: ‘We’ll keep you posted on further venue and arena updates. Thanks so much for your continued support.’

As of Friday, Dave had shared a statement with his followers revealing that he would be performing all of his upcoming shows as planned, all being well.

He wrote on Instagram that Friday’s show in Birmingham would be going ahead despite the storm, adding: ‘I never wanna let the people down, trying to make the best call we can so be safe and I’ll see you tonight.

‘As of now ALL shows are going ahead as planned.’

The O2 had told patrons on Friday that the venue had been cleared and it was working to reopen when safe, adding: ‘Please check the event page for further info.

‘The safety of our visitors remains of paramount importance, and we will continue to assess the ongoing situation and act accordingly.’
