It might not feel like spring right now in the UK, but as the warmer months approach you might think twice before jet-setting off in search of sunshine.

It seems heading to the capital might be all you need.

That’s because London has just been crowned as the biggest ‘sun trap’ city in the UK, according to a new report.

To come up with the rankings, the team at Betway looked at factors such as average number of daylight hours, which month of the year has the most sun, and average annual temperature.

As a result, they determined London has one of the highest annual average temperatures in the UK, coming in at 11.1°C.

Londoners also have slightly more exposure to sunshine, compared to those in other parts of the country, with the English capital scoring 44.6/70 overall in the report.

Reading followed close behind in second place – boasting the highest number of annual daylight hours in the UK, with an average day length of 11:15.

Rather surprisingly, ‘rainy city’ Manchester was ranked the third biggest sun trap in the UK – with a score of 29.6/70.

While the northern city didn’t score well for average annual temperature, least amount of rainfall or number of sunshine hours, the report did show that Manchester comes out on top as the least windy city in the UK – with an average speed of 15.8km.
