Lizzo has hit the Glastonbury stage and reminded fans that ‘everybody deserves’ to feel comfortable in their own skin.

The singer, 35, performed on the Pyramid Stage on Saturday night and didn’t disappoint, with her powerhouse vocals working the audience into a frenzy as she launched into some of her greatest hits.

As always, she also took some time out to tell people watching that they should be proud of their bodies.

During a break between songs the singer was heard delivering a pre-recorded mantra while she underwent an outfit change.

‘I put in work for my body, I look after my body, I look good in my body, everybody deserves this,’ she could be heard saying.

She then returned to the stage in a stunning gold dress, before belting out her song Jerome.

After that song wrapped up she then asked the audience if they could undertake a ‘bad b***** meditation’ together.

‘I am special,’ she said before asking the crowd to chant it back several times.

‘In case nobody told you…you are special,’ she added, before then singing her song of the same name.

While she’s a vocal advocate for self-love, Lizzo recently had to hit back against body shamers.

Earlier this month the singer, who has long been subject to racist and fatphobic trolls, shared her thoughts on the trolling.

In a series of impassioned tweets responding to someone who wondered what ‘she must be eating’ to make her ‘THIS fat’, Lizzo wrote: ‘I JUST logged on and the app and this is the type of s*** I see about me on a daily basis.

However she later took to social media again to share some fabulous photos of her behind and sharing a defiant message: ‘Never beating the fat-ass allegations…’

Glastonbury 2023 is streaming on BBC iPlayer.
