Liz is a healthy 30-year-old woman, but her living arrangement might suggest otherwise
Thirty-year-old Liz left her audience puzzled after revealing that despite her young age and perfect health, she was living in a community of mostly elderly people.
When most people think of a healthy 30-year-old woman’s living arrangement, its unlikely their mind will default to a lifestyle village designed for people aged 55 and older.
For Florida resident Liz however that’s precisely what she calls home, despite having no health ailments to speak of and being entirely capable of living independently.
The community, typically referred to as a lifestyle village in Australia, doesn’t just meet her basic needs, but exceeds them, according to Liz, who runs the TikTok account Liz Wizdom.
In a video this week revealing her unexpected residence, Liz shared what she got up to in a typical day, including a visit to the library to exchange some puzzles, and sampling her 80-year-old neighbour’s homemade bread.
She also partook in a visit to the beach where she was passively involved in a discussion about the best reading glasses, then returned to her building for a party.
Attendees brought food, socialised and listened to live music. Liz said, with her later leaving the complex to catch up with her regular friends over dinner to remind her of her “real age”.
The video about her unorthodox arrangement was quick to go viral, with one main question on the audience’s lips – why is she living in an old people’s home?
Liz followed up with a second video detailing how she had come to live in a community of senior citizens, explaining that it was entirely out of personal preference and the pure fact that she simply could.
“My parents are snowbirds, they’re in their 60s, and they actually rented in this building before I did. So I had already come down and visited and met everyone.
“So when a unit became available that I wanted to rent, they already knew that, yeah I’m young, but I’m not going to be throwing ragers and I’m DTP – that means down to puzzle.”
Liz said once she was given the green light, she just signed a lease and moved in.
It had “been great” since beginning her new life among the 55+ community, she added.
A third video highlighted some additional quirks of her living environment, including the heated pool being empty most of the time because it was still too cold for the residents.
An on-site herb garden, posters throughout the building with “rules”, a library room for books and puzzles, and a gym with broken equipment also made the list.
Viewers were notably gobsmacked by the revelation, many expressing a strong desire to also join a 55+ community for the quiet, relaxing atmosphere.
“I didn’t even think this was possible. I would thrive here,” one wrote in a comment.
“Why are we not living like this as standard. Why do we have to wait until we’re 55?” another said.
“HOW DO I ALSO GET TO LIVE THIS DREAM? Please! Tell them I’ll share my FURLS crochet hooks. This is exciting,” a third wrote.
It was understood that while the majority of residents were required to be 55 or order, a small percentage of people under that age were allowed to live there.
Liz said she worked from home while living in the building.
