Liverpool & big six rivals set to bid for Chelsea star after breakdown in talks
The playmaker has 18 months to run on his deal at Stamford Bridge and talks over an extension have come to an abrupt halt in recent weeks.
Mount, who earns around £80,000-a-week in west London, rejected Chelsea’s latest proposal.
The midfielder wants parity with many of his England team-mates, such as Raheem Sterling, and his representatives are seeking around £240,000-a-week.
Chelsea have handed out huge wages to the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Kalidou Koulibably in the last 18 months but they’ve shown an unwillingness to do the same for academy product Mount.
Chelsea argue that the deals they’ve handed the likes of Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk, in which the pair have been given seven-year deals, are on lower wages.
But Mount is unhappy with the proposal and the Evening Standard say Liverpool lead the queue of interested parties this summer.
Jurgen Klopp wants to inject fresh legs into his midfield and Mount is a priority target, alongside Jude Bellingham.
Mount would have a year left on his deal by the time the summer transfer window comes around and it would be Chelsea’s last chance to recoup significant cash for the playmaker.
The club have spent £600m across the last two windows and are wary of Financial Fair Play rules.
Mount could fetch around £40m on the open market this summer, though it’s not specified which top six clubs could rival Liverpool for his signature.
