Little Women book review! Loukya Sujeevan, GGSK College
Little Women is a story about four young women, who live in poverty. The book revolves around their lives and how they were raised and what they did when they are older. I wouldn’t say it is a full romantic book but it does have some love here and there. The events of a story follow on from one another by parts.
The main characters are Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March (the four sisters), another main character is their mother ‘Marmee’. I would describe Jo as a tomboy however, later in the book she tries to be more ladylike. Another character is Beth, she would be classified as more of a shy type. The character I most liked was Beth because I was able to relate to her character the most. The character that had a dramatic difference throughtout the book would be Jo because she completely changed her character of a tomboy to a lot more feminine with a lot of grace.
The book is written in third person, this is useful because we get to explore the thoughts and feelings of all the characters. It was a very good and inspirational book because it shows how the four sisters went from extreme poverty, to fulfilling their dreams and doing what they love the most. In a way, it gives a suble moral to the audience that they should live their lives the way they want to, and that their background shouldn’t affect them. The book made me feel like it was telling everyone to do what they want and don’t let other people control your life and to work hard. I would recommend this book to everyone because it is so important to understand the saying to ‘follow your dreams’.
