Acer, a technology company popular for its laptops, desktops and computer accessories, will also now sell video gaming brand PlayStation products in the Philippines.

Sony Interactive Entertainment Singapore (SIES), widely known in the interactive and digital entertainment field, named Acer Global Merchandise Philippines Inc. (AGM) as its sole distributor partner here. AGM is part of the Philippine office of the Acer Group.

In a recent statement, AGM said it was authorized to sell through its retail channels the following products: PlayStation 5 consoles, PlayStation 4 consoles, PlayStation accessories and physical versions of the game software distributed by SIES.

“PlayStation is already a very popular gaming platform in the Philippines and we’re very happy to grow the market further,” AGM business operations manager Anjelo Paguntalan said.

According to Sony’s consolidated financial report, it sold globally 5.7 million units of PlayStation 5 in the first half, higher than the 5.6 million units it shipped in the same period last year.

AGM said that the partnership was “expected to result in an improved distribution approach that focuses on channel and market management for SIES’ products.”

The venture is also seen boosting AGM’s distribution of gaming devices.

“The public can be assured that what AGM will bring to this partnership is the same level of excellence that Acer is known for,” said AGM board director Sue Ong Lim.

In January, Acer opened a flagship store in SM Megamall Cyberzone.
