Lisa Marie Presley’s unusual cause of death symptoms explained

Lisa Marie Presley died from a bowel obstruction caused by previous weight-loss surgery, it has been revealed.

Reports state that the only daughter of Elvis Presley died aged 54 as a result of adhesions caused by bowel surgery undergone several years ago.

The artist had reportedly suffered frequent bouts of severe abdominal pain before she was found unresponsive at her home in Calabasas, California on January 12.

It is understood she suffered a cardiac arrest while at her house and received CPR and a shot of adrenaline before she was later announced dead at a nearby hospital.

The official cause of death stated on toxicology reports is a blockage in the small intestine, which developed as a result of bariatric surgery years ago.

The medical procedure is commonly undertaken by patients with a high body mass index who are unable to lose weight with diet and exercise.

Operations of this kind are known to cause scar tissue to grow in the digestive tract and lead to the death of bowel tissue unless treated immediately.

In the months leading up to the obstruction, Ms. Presley has reportedly complained of abdominal pain, fever, vomiting, and nausea, according to the New York Times.

Toxicology reports show Ms. Presley also had therapeutic levels of Oxycodone in the blood, as well as traces of opioid Buoenorphine – commonly used to treat addiction to opioids.

Months before her death, the artist had a cosmetic procedure for which she was prescribed opioids.

These drugs carry a risk of constipation and bowel obstruction.

Lisa Marie attended the 80th Golden Globe Awards in Los Angeles with her mother Priscilla just two days before her death, on January 10.

It was noted that the singer looked frail as she walked down the red carpet, clutching onto her longtime family friend Jerry Schilling, now 81 years old, for support.

The singer linked arms with Schilling while being interviewed for Extra, telling him “I’m gonna grab your arm”.
