Lionel Richie’s daughter converts to Judaism ahead of wedding
Sofia Richie, 24, celebrated on Instagram this morning as she completed her conversion from Christianity to Judaism, the religion of her fiancee, Elliot Grainge, 28.
The beauty director shared with her 8.1 million followers a make-up-free selfie as she posed in front of some serene stained glass, signing some paperwork in her final step to convert.
The daughter of the Dancing on the Ceiling singer wrote alongside the selfie: “What a magical day. I want to thank cantor Nathan Lam for helping me along this journey of converting to Judaism.
“It has been one of the greatest experiences of my life.
“Today was that day!!!”

Sofia’s conversion comes almost a year after her beloved got down on one knee to propose in a lavish affair, surrounded by hundreds of flower petals and candles.
Although a date for Sofia and Elliot’s nuptials has not been revealed, the model incited a fervour in her fanbase last month as she posed for a snap in a scenic garden.
She captioned the simple picture: “The countdown begins,” with an emoji of a bride.
Elliot and Sofia have been dating since early 2021 but have known each other since childhood.
Sofia has previously been open about her religious upbringing in the Christian faith, as she attended a Christian school for two years.
She told Complex in 2016 that growing up in the public eye as the daughter of a pop icon and a fashion designer had some downsides: “My dad was always traveling and my mom was always working.
“School is where I did Bible classes and studied God. I went there for two years, and that’s where I got my sense.
“My family wanted church to be a place where we all went together.”
Converting to Judaism is a lengthy transition with many steps to be completed such as speaking to a rabbi, studying Jewish beliefs, history, rituals and practices and learning Hebrew.
The conversion process also requires the person to get involved in the Jewish community, agree to observe the 613 mitzvot, or commandments, of the Torah and agree to live a Jewish life.
