Lionel Messi joins Byju’s as global ambassador for equitable education social initiative

Edtech major Byju’s announced on Friday it has brought on board Lionel Messi as the global ambassador of its social impact arm Education For All.

Messi, who plays for the French club Paris Saint-Germain and is the captain of the Argentinian football team, has joined hands to promote the cause of equitable education.

Byju’s aims to expand it global footprint and commitment to make education accessible, equitable, and affordable for all. Earlier this year, it became the official sponsor of the FIFA World Cup 2022 scheduled to be held later this month in Qatar.

With a social media fanbase of nearly 450 million, Messi will feature in campaigns promoting Byju’s Education For All initiative.

Byju’s association with Messi comes close on the heels of reports suggesting it is eyeing to
raise $250-300 million via convertible notes and is in early-stage talks with TPG to rope it in as one of the potential investors.
