Linda Robson wouldn’t ‘stand next to’ Frankie Bridge over body issues

Linda Robson, 64, has candidly spoken out about the pressures of being on TV and how at times she struggled with body image issues and self-consciousness. The Loose Women panellist recalled a time when she was due to get her picture taken alongside her co-stars, but wanted to avoid standing next to Frankie Bridge, 33, as she compared their bodies.

Linda admitted that she became “increasingly conscious” of the veins on her legs after her pregnancy with her third child, Bobbie, who is now 26.

She went on to explain the “crazy lengths” she has since gone to try and hide her veins, revealing she would even wear her sarong to the shower when she was in the I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! jungle.

Linda also said her sister, who has varicose veins, did not seem affected by them the way the TV star had due to being in “the public eye”.

In a new interview, Linda gave an insight into how her life in the spotlight affects her perception of herself, even going as far as wanting to avoid posing for pictures next to The Saturdays star, Frankie Bridge.

She began: “We were shooting billboard posters for this Body Stories campaign.

“First I was looking at Kaye Adams, who has the legs of an 18 year old.

“Then we all started looking over at Frankie Bridge saying, ‘I ain’t standing next to her’ and I said, ‘I don’t mean to be rude Frankie, but there’s no way I’m being photographed next to you’.”

Linda continued: “I felt like a big Oompa Loompa and so much more self-conscious about my body, particularly my veiny legs, than I had the first time we’d shot the Body Stories campaign, before Frankie joined the show.

She revealed: “My mum gave me a few complexes but she didn’t mean to, she was like Irish, old fashioned and that.”

Linda continued: “If I put on a bit of weight she’d go, ‘Oh the salad bar is over there’.”

“She used to go to me ‘Oh your face looked lovely on telly today, but your neck…’, [then Linda would say] ‘It’s the only one I’ve got mum!’.

“I’d start wearing scarves and used to wear them all the time to cut it [neck] up.
