Linda Nolan forced to deny being drunk after chemotherapy side effects
The 62-year-old was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 2006.
In 2020, the singer revealed her incurable liver cancer and shared that more tumours have been found, confessing to being ‘scared to death of dying’.
This marked the third time the illness returned following her initial diagnosis and a secondary cancer on her pelvis in 2017.
The Dublin-born star says she is doing ‘ok’ at the moment, but has struggled with the side effects of her chemotherapy – one being that her legs and balance have been affected.
Not always so steady on her feet, Linda recent fell over while in Marks & Spencer.
After being helped up again by members of staff, she had to assure them she wasn’t drunk at 3pm.
Linda began to Ok! Magazine: ‘As you know, my cancer is treatable – not curable – so I’m on constant treatments. I did a strong course of chemo where I lost my hair again and I was traumatised again.
‘People said, “Oh, well you lost it before, you must be used to it now,” and I went, “No, no, you never get used to not having any hair.” Then, I stopped the chemo because it was affecting my quality of life.’
She continued: She went on: ‘It affected my legs and I had a fall while I was in town. It was in Marks & Spencer at three o’clock on a Saturday afternoon and when they came to help me up, I said, “I’m not drunk!”.’
Linda went on to say she feels like she’s ‘sitting on a time bomb’, despite trying her best to stay positive.
‘I try not to worry the whole time, however. If I’m worried the whole time, cancer’s winning.’
Following her liver cancer diagnosis, Linda said she doesn’t want to know what her prognosis is.
Two years ago, though, she shared her wish to still be around for ‘a few more Christmases.’
The Nolan family has a heartbreaking history with cancer.
Linda’s sister, Anne Nolan, was diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in April 2020 amid the Covid-19 lockdown.
Later that year, though, Anne declared she was cancer free.
The pair tragically lost their younger sister Bernie to cancer in July 2013, aged 54.
