The summer months inevitably bring a slew of al fresco weddings, with couples eager to tie the knot under the sunshine – whether that means praying for a sunny day on their home turf or jetting off overseas.
But high temperatures and formal attire don’t always go hand in hand, with many of us getting a little hot under the collar during sun-soaked ceremonies.
There are a few things to take into consideration when selecting an outfit that will withstand warmer temperatures:
- Material: Lightweight materials such as chiffon and linen are great for the warmer months, while breathable cotton will minimise the likelyhood of sweat marks on the big day. It goes without saying that leather, suede or heavy satin or silk won’t do you any favours in the heat.
- Fit: Loose fitting garments will encourage airflow and help you keep cool, plus they’re less likely to show any marks if you’re having to deal with high temperatures and the inevitable happens.
- Colour: If you are worried that despite selecting a loose fit and summer-friendly material sweat marks still might happen, darker colours will make them less obvious and patterns are great for concealing a multitude of sins.
