The first of three bank holiday Mondays in May is nearly upon us – which means a day off is on the cards for many.

And if you don’t have any big plans for May 1, you may find yourself catching up on sleep, TV or even household tasks, such as food shopping or meal prepping for the week ahead.

In that case, you might be wondering when your local Lidl is due to open on the bank holiday.

Here’s all you need to know.

Is Lidl open on Early May bank holiday Monday?

Lidl store opening times will vary depending on your location.

To find out opening times for your nearest shop, use Lidl’s store finder and input your postcode.

This is the best way to find the exact opening hours for your local Lidl, to ensure you won’t miss out on any shopping.

That said, you can generally expect Lidl to operate its usual opening times on the Saturday (April 29) and Sunday (April 30) before bank holiday Monday itself (May 1).

London Lidl opening times

In London, it seems many stores will keep to their usual Monday hours on the May 1, such as:

  • Tottenham Court Road – 6am to 11pm
  • Clapham Road – 7am to 10pm
  • Old Kent Road – 7am to 10pm
  • Massinger Street – 8am to 10pm
  • Acre Lane – 8am to 10pm

Elsewhere in England and Wales, bank holiday Monday may see shorter opening hours of 8am to 8pm.

We noticed that a number of shops in cities Newcastle, Cardiff and Manchester that typically open at either 7am/8am and close around 10pm were listing these slightly shorter hours for the bank holiday.

In Scotland, Lidl shops should be open as normal on bank holiday Monday.
