Liam Gallagher told fan Oasis reunion ‘is happening’

The legendary Manchester rock band Oasis split up for good back in 2009, after a reported backstage battle between brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher in Paris, France. Since then, fans have been calling for a comeback for the Wonderwall singers – and Liam seems to have just “confirmed” it is happening sooner than they might think.

Liam is particularly outspoken about Oasis and his brother, Noel, on Twitter. And on March 18, 2023, he took on a slew of questions from his fans, where one hopeful Oasis fan asked: “Liam is there a small percentage that Oasis get back together?”

The singer swiftly confirmed: “It’s happening.”

He didn’t divulge any further details, so it is not yet known if this is an official confirmation of Oasis’ reunion, or simply the star having some hopeful fun with his fans online.

Regardless of his intention, this interaction was enough to send Oasis fans into a frenzy. One posted the “oh my god, it’s happening,” meme from the American Office, while another replied: “Omg for real?” A third asked: “When!?”

A reunion for Oasis may not be a complete surprise, as Noel seemed a little more open to the idea just a couple of months ago.

Noel told BBC Radio Manchester in January that he should “never say never” to a reunion for Oasis.

However, he did go on to add: “It would have to take an extraordinary set of circumstances; that’s not to say that those circumstances would never come about.”

Although, Noel has been very reluctant to get back together with his brother in Oasis – with whom he has had public arguments over the years.

In October, Noel said that coming out of Oasis retirement would be “pointless” because of one major financial reason.

Noel explained that Oasis still “sell as many records now” as they did in their prime.

This means the brothers are likely getting big payouts regularly, and have no monetary need to go on tour or bring the band back together.

Meanwhile, Liam has been adamant that getting Oasis back together is a priority of his.

Specifically, the 50-year-old confessed the band should have “never” split up.

Liam told The Times last year: “I’d love Oasis to get back together. If it happens, it happens. But I’m quite happy doing [my solo career].”

He went on to berate his brother, saying it felt as if “he’s been abducted”. Despite this, he continued: “But you know I love him. We split up nearly 13 years ago. It’s ridiculous. We can go on about whose fault it is, but he’s his own man. If he really wanted to get in contact, for my mum’s sake, he could do it, but he obviously doesn’t want to. There are only so many olive branches you can offer.”
