Formula One icon Lewis Hamilton was spotted rubbing shoulders with the likes of Kim Kardashian and Leonardo Di Caprio in Los Angeles on Friday night. The Mercedes star was sat alongside Hollywood legend Di Caprio to take in the Lakers’ NBA Western Conference semi-final against the Golden State Warriors.
Hamilton was seen on the front row sporting a green jacket and trouser combo and an ‘LA’ branded cap. Images show the Briton sharing a discussion with Di Caprio, who was wearing a facemask and a black cap.
The pair sat a few seats along from each other for the match, which featured NBA icons LeBron James and Steph Curry. They were joined by DreamWorks CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg and his son David.
Hamilton watched on as the Lakers sealed the series with a 122-101 victory. Other stars in attendance included Kardashian, Hollywood legend Jack Nicholson, Jack Harlow and Kendall Jenner.
It has been another frustrating F1 season for Hamilton, who used his weekend off to jet over to the USA. The seven-time World Champion has not won a race since 2021 and has recorded just one podium finish in 2023, amid Mercedes’ performance struggles.
There remains uncertainty over whether Hamilton will be with Mercedes next season. A contract that expires at the end of this term has not yet been extended.
However, he insists that he is nowhere near the end of his career. Hamilton pointed towards the likes of NBA star James, also 38, as an example of sportspeople who have sustained a lengthy career. “I don’t plan on stopping any time soon … I’m not at the end of my career, I’m not in the downhill slope of my career. I’m in my prime,” Hamilton told ESPN.
It all depends on how hard I want to work and keep myself in my prime, in terms of physical and mental capability.”
“If you look at LeBron (James), if you look at Tom Brady, they have shown that it can be sustained for as long as you are dedicated enough to put the energy and time in. Right now, I don’t plan on changing, I only plan on adding to the drive and the motivation and to being better. I’m massively driven.”
Hamilton hinted that he could try another sport, adding: “I’m a fan of racing and other sports. So I would like to try it. I’d love to swap with Valentino Rossi and try Moto GP. I sometimes watch IndyCar and would love to try one of those at some stage.”
