Legends in awe of ‘untapped’ star after ‘brilliant’ play
Rugby league legends Phil Gould and Andrew Johns have been left in awe of Zac Lomax after the centre led the Dragons to victory over the Tigers.
Lomax laid on a flick pass assist to winger Mikaele Ravalawa in the 65th minute to provide his side with the match-winner in a 18-14 scoreline.
The centre scored his own try earlier in the match, making for a brilliant performance, with Gould full of praise post-match.

“Complete involvement from the opening minute until the end, he did all the dirty work, he came out and helped his forwards and ran the ball and he was there for a couple of big plays,” he said on Nine’s coverage.
“He’s a real player, I don’t know why it hasn’t gone better for him at different times … but I always thought he was a rep player at some stage of his career.”
The Dragons were off to a shocking start when Tigers winger Junior Tupou barged over Tyrell Sloan close to the line in the opening 10 minutes.
Despite going down early, the Dragons hit back with tries to Sloan and Lomax, holding a 12-4 lead.
Disaster struck when Sloan was sent to the sin bin in the 33rd minute, with Tupou and Apisai Koroisau scoring to put the Tigers 14-12 ahead at half-time.
Neither side could break the game open in the second half until Lomax became the star of the show with his flick pass – a trademark play from the centre, and one he’s been ridiculed about previously.

“That might be one of the best passes I’ve ever seen, he makes things happen Zac Lomax … That’s brilliant,” he said.
Johns was equally impressed by Lomax’s efforts and put his performance down to simply “getting more ball”.
“He’s untapped Lomax, absolutely untapped,” he said.
“I was talking to Paul McGregor who coached him, he said (he’s a) great trainer, great attitude, the fittest at the club, you can play him anywhere.”
