Lara Dutta opens up about Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes’ rift
Lara Dutta spilled the beans over the curdled relationship between her husband Mahesh Bhupathi and his former tennis partner, Leander Paes. Lara said that the legendary duo will continue to have a ‘love-hate relationship’.
Mahesh Bhupathi and Leander Paes used to play for India as partners in Tennis Men’s Doubles. They were considered as one of the most successful tennis duos of India, but the pair broke up shortly after lifting the 1999 French Open Men’s Doubles Title, owing to personal differences.
Talking to a leading newspaper, Lara said, “They can never be separated from each other. Mahesh and Leander are going to have this love-hate relationship throughout their life.”
Mahesh and Leander’s rift was also portrayed cinematically in a 7-part documentary series directed by Nitesh Tiwari and Ashwiny Iyer, ‘Break Point’. It was released on an OTT platform.
Lara is currently looking forward to the release of her show Kaun Banegi Shikharwati, directed by Gauravv Chawla and Ananya Banerjee. The show also stars Naseeruddin Shah, Raghubir Yadav, Soha Ali Khan, Anya Singh, Kritika Kamra, Cyrus Sahukar and Varun Thakur.
