Langer ally quits key Cricket Australia position
A key ally of former Australian cricket coach Justin Langer has quit his position.
Gavin Dovey, the long-time team manager of the Australian men’s team, has resigned.
Dovey had been in the position for more than a decade, having succeeded Steve Bernard in 2011.

He made headlines last year when he was involved in a heated exchange with a Cricket Australia staff member during the team’s tour of Bangladesh.
Dovey was reported to have confronted a cricket.com.au video journalist after footage was posted of Bangladesh players singing their team song after defeating Australia.
Langer quit as national coach earlier this month.
Dovey’s departure continues a wholesale cleanout in Australian cricket, with the Test captain (Tim Paine), coach (Langer) and chairman (Earl Eddings) having all departed since October.
“Gavin has done an outstanding job over the past 11 years in what has been a very complex and demanding role,” Cricket Australia high-performance manager Ben Oliver told the Age and Sydney Morning Herald.
“He felt now is the right time for the team, his family and himself personally as he pursues new opportunities, and we respect his decision. We are indebted to Gavin and his family and wish them the very best for the future.”
