Lamar Jackson adds drama to Ravens contract talks with three words

Lamar Jackson’s three-word tweet has put an even larger focus on his contract talks with the Ravens as his self-imposed Week 1 deadline for striking a new deal nears.

Jackson, the 25-year-old former NFL MVP who can become a free agent after the 2022 season, responded to someone on Twitter who claimed the Ravens already offered the quarterback $250 million guaranteed and that he turned it down.

“No they didn’t,” wrote Jackson, who does not have an agent.

Jackson, who’s set to earn $23 million this season on his fifth-year rookie option, also liked a tweet with a photo that had him photoshopped in a Dolphins jersey. He wrote on Twitter that he grew up a Cowboys fan, “but Dolphins were second no doubt.”

Deshaun Watson’s five-year, $230 million contract with the Browns is fully guaranteed, setting a new benchmark for quarterbacks. Watson was suspended 11 games and fined $5 million after more than two dozen women accused him of sexual misconduct.

Jackson threw for 3,127 yards, 36 touchdowns and six interceptions in 15 games during his 2019 MVP season, while also rushing for 1,206 yards and seven more touchdowns. The Ravens went 14-2 but were one-and-done in the playoffs, losing to the Titans in the divisional round.

In 2020, Jackson had 2,757 yards passing with 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions, adding 1,005 yards rushing and seven additional scores. Baltimore went 11-5 and got revenge on the Titans in the wild card round before losing to the Bills.
