Lady Sarah Chatto made sweet nod to Princess Margaret with her wedding tiara
Lady Sarah Chatto, 59, celebrated her 29th wedding anniversary on July 14. The daughter of Princess Margaret married Daniel Chatto in 1994 whilst wearing a Jasper Conran wedding dress.
The royal wedding took place at St Stephen Walbrook Church in the City of London.
Lady Sarah chose the in-demand society designer of the period, Jasper Conran, for both her wedding gown and the bridesmaids’ outfits.
She had three bridesmaids: her half-sister Lady Frances Armstrong-Jones, her cousin Zara Tindall, and her friend Tara Noble Singh.
Sarah’s classic style of dress featured long sleeves, a square-cut corseted bodice, and layers of ivory georgette fabric.
For royal weddings, the late Queen usually lent the bride a diadem from her own collection.
However, Lady Sarah elected to wear a brand-new tiara that the brand Wartski made specifically for the nuptials.
The Snowdon Floral Tiara is made up of a variety of floral components, and Sarah added a small amount of foliage to complete the design.
This gorgeous tiara was a brand-new item of jewellery, but it was linked to Sarah’s parents’ wedding in 1960.
In 1960, the year of their wedding, Antony Armstrong-Jones gave Princess Margaret three flowery diamond brooches as a wedding gift.
Their only daughter combined these brooches to make the magnificent headpiece for her wedding day 34 years later.
For a royal wedding, Sarah’s decision to don a new tiara was unique because usually, brides choose to walk down the aisle wearing one of the Queen’s existing diadems.
The ceremony, which lasted about 30 minutes, was renowned for its briefness.
When the couple left the church, the driver is said to have been caught off guard, leaving the pair to wait there for some time.
For the reception, the group went to Clarence House, the former home of the late Queen Mother.
The pair spent their honeymoon in India, the country in which they met. They have two children: Samuel, born in 1996, and Arthur, born in 1999.
Lady Sarah’s 1994 wedding to Daniel was less elaborate than other royal nuptials because she is not a working royal, therefore this was unsurprising.
