Another set of photos have dropped from the set of Joker sequel Folie à Deux, this time showing Harley Quinn actress Lady Gaga on the same iconic steps featured in the first movie.

The Bad Romance singer takes on the role of the DC Comics character and Joker’s on-again, off-again girlfriend in the new film, which is said to be a musical.

Although Quinn didn’t appear in the 2019 original opposite Joaquin Phoenix – who won a bet actor Oscar for his efforts – she was last portrayed by Margot Robbie in Birds of Prey and The Suicide Squad.

With Gaga now set to offer her take on the former psychiatrist-turned-criminal, she was spotted filming for the Joker sequel in the Bronx, New York City.

The 37-year-old star was accompanied by director Todd Phillips as they discussed a scene on the street steps connecting Shakespeare and Anderson avenues at West 167th Street in Highbridge.

The location has become so synonymous with its inclusion in 2019’s Joker, that they are now known colloquially as the ‘Joker Stairs’.

Phoenix’s Arthur Fleck, aka The Joker, is shown repeatedly walking up and down them as part of his daily routine before dancing on them in his brightly-coloured suit and clown make-up in the first movie.

On Saturday, Gaga was dressed in a spotty dress covered with a furry dark jacket, going bare-legged and wearing frilly ankle socks and Mary Jane-style shoes with a crossover strap.

The actress was also carrying a tote bag on one shoulder and appeared make-up free with her blonde hair down and parted in the middle.

Phillips chatted with her as they made their way down the stairs, both appearing in high spirits as he pointed out directions for the shot.

Gaga was first seen in full costume just last weekend as she filmed in a red jacket, leather mini-skirt and a black and white patterned corset with matching black mesh tights, in an ode to the famous Batman villain’s favourite diamond pattern.

She was later seen planting a kiss on a female bystander during a scene shot at New York’s City Hall, surrounded by extras, as her co-star Phoenix was seen in a brown suit being escorted away by Gotham Police as filming continued.

Joker: Folie à Deux will release in cinemas on October 4, 2024.
