Kym Marsh fractured a rib during Strictly that ‘nobody knew about’
In a new interview, the former Coronation Street actress revealed that the gruelling Strictly training sessions had taken her toll on her body, so much so that she fractured a rib.
She told Hello! that she had been juggling “a lot on [her] plate” due to her busy schedule balancing commitments such as Strictly and presenting BBC’s Morning Live.
Kym said: “I’d also had a fractured rib from dancing for the last eight weeks, which nobody knew about.
“I’d been having physio and dealing with that, which has been quite tricky.”
The Hear’Say bandmember also told the publication that she had suffered a panic attack during the show.
She explained that “the tiredness and stress had set in and I was working a lot away from home, and everything piled on top of me”.
Nevertheless, she said she was able to “pull herself together” in time for her live performance.
Following her elimination, Kym took to Instagram to thank her loved ones for all their support.
She wrote: “Thank you so much to everyone who supported us throughout this competition! We had such a great time! I will never forget this moment in my life. I have made a friend for life in @grazianodiprima but I have to say a huge Thankyou to my family. My husband, my son, my daughter, their partners, my parents, my siblings, I could not have got through this without them!
“I love you my beautiful family! Graziano you are now an honorary Marsh!! We love you.
“Thank you for the fun, the laughter and thank you for showing me that I am stronger than I think! Love you!!” (sic)
She had previously had to miss one week of the competition after testing positive for Covid.
On Saturday night, wildlife cameraman Hamza Yassin lifted the coveted Glitterball Trophy alongside his professional partner Jowita Przystal.
Kym also returned alongside this year’s eliminated contestants including Will Mellor, Tony Adams and Kaye Adams.
They showed off everything they had learned during their time on Strictly with a lively performance of some of the most memorable tracks from this series.
The Strictly Come Dancing final is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
