Kriti Sanon shares insight into her intense preparation for Janaki in Adipurush

Adipurush, featuring Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan and Kriti Sanon, is a highly anticipated movie of the year. Despite the underwhelming response to last year’s teaser and the makers’ decision to focus on VFX, fans are eagerly looking forward to watching it on the big screen, especially after the trailer was unveiled. Kriti Sanon, who plays the role of Janaki, recently spoke openly about the difficulties she faced while portraying the character, with only one day to go until the film’s release. 

During an interview with Times Of India, Kriti Sanon stated that Om had extensively researched Ramayana and had a clear vision for the project. The process of transforming into Janaki was not just limited to physical aspects but also involved internalising the character’s essence. Kriti had to invest a considerable amount of time and effort to understand Janaki’s emotional journey, virtues, and bring her to life on screen. The process was meticulous, involving rehearsals and multiple sittings to understand the historical and mythological context of the character, as well as deciding on the perfect look and attire.

She added, “As a figure deeply revered and worshipped by millions, there is an inherent expectation to portray her with utmost respect and authenticity. Understanding her significance in the hearts and minds of people, I have approached this role with great care and diligence along with a lot of love and respect in my heart. Every aspect of her character, from her pure loving heart to her virtues to her unwavering strength to her immense faith in Lord Ram – understanding Janaki has been a beautiful journey.”

Directed by Om Raut, Adipurush is based on the Hindu epic Ramayana. Prabhas will play the role of Raghav, while Kriti Sanon will portray Janaki. Saif Ali Khan will play the antagonist, Lankesh, and Sunny Singh will be seen as Shesh. This movie is considered to be the biggest project in Prabhas’ career and has been made on a budget of Rs 300 crore.

Adipurush is set to release on June 16, 2023.
