Krafton CEO Shares the Company’s Vision for 2023; Continues Its Focus on Metaverse and Deep Learning for Some Reason

Krafton CEO Changhan Kim has shared the company’s vision for 2023, which will see the South Korean gaming giants focus on improving its publishing capabilities.

2022 wasn’t the greatest of years for Krafton, as it failed to make a mark with the much-hyped horror title, The Callisto Protocol. The lacklustre performance of the title saw the company’s stock take a dip, as the game failed to meet industry targets.

However, it seems like the company isn’t planning on straying away from publishing anytime soon. “It is necessary to strengthen publishing capabilities to continuously accumulate a pipeline and secure a system for more games to get a chance to bat (in the market),” said Changhan Kim during the Krafton Live Talk.

Kim further shared that the company needs to “innovate and focus organizational capabilities, strengthen publishing capabilities and systems, and continue investment into the future.”

Despite a looming global recession, the Krafton CEO is hopeful about the company’s efforts to create a better future. “We’ll make every effort to further bolster KRAFTON’s organizational capabilities and reinforce the publishing business in order to achieve financial outcomes,” said Kim.

Along with publishing, Krafton has also deemed the world of metaverse and deep learning to be important, as the company plans on investing more in the near future. Kim explained that it’s imperative to invest in these technologies, “as they are closely related to game production technology, which is one of Krafton’s core competencies.”

While other video gaming studios remain sceptics about the use of metaverse in current video games for console, PC, and mobile, it seems like Krafton is planning on betting big with the new technology.
