Kolkata schools and colleges embrace International Yoga Day, showcasing health and wellness through yogamahotsav event – Times of India

KOLKATA: Several schools and colleges in the city observed and celebrated International Yoga Day on Wednesday. Some schools jointly celebrated this event with the world music day while one city school involved under-privileged students for the well-being of their mental health.
On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Orchids The International School hosted a spectacular event called the Yogamahotsav, where students from Grades 1 to 8 showcased their yoga skills and spread the message of health and wellness. The event took place in the school playground and garnered much attention as the students taught teachers yoga asanas. This initiative aimed to encourage healthy habits among students and faculty, promoting physical and mental well-being.
30 underprivileged students of Gostho Pal Football Coaching Centre, Behala invited to Birla Bharati School where they performed asanas along with students of Birla Bharati. Delhi Public School Newtown grandly celebrated World Yoga Day and the World Music Day jointly on Wednesday. A Flash Mob accompanied by an unconventional orchestra, was organised near Biswa Bangla Gate where students participated. At school one period for each class was dedicated to practicing yoga.
St. Xavier’s College (Autonomous) Kolkata observed Yoga day at the college premises where principal Fr. Dominic Savio was present. NSS volunteers practiced Yoga in the main parlour of the college. 30 student members of XADAM, practiced the yoga protocol set by the Ministry of Ayush in the Jubilee Hall. 42 student members of NCC participated actively in the gymnasium area and performed several asanas.
