Kochie barred from entering state for finals clash

Port Adelaide chairman David Koch has been barred from entering South Australia to watch the Power’s preliminary final clash against the Western Bulldogs.

The Sydney-based television host was denied permission to travel to Adelaide after submitting an application to enter the state two weeks ago.

He was informed over his unsuccessful application yesterday which he had hoped would have allowed him to travel to Perth ahead of the grand final via two weeks’ quarantine in Adelaide.

Koch is now likely to also be barred from entering Western Australia should Port Adelaide win on the weekend, with Sydney having been listed an “extreme risk” by the Western Australia government.

It follows WA’s hard stance on former Collingwood president Eddie McGuire who will miss the grand final for the first time since 1976, after authorities rejected his application to enter the state.

McGuire had been planning to take part in a number of activities to promote the state, including crosses to Nine shows such as Today and Footy Classified.

Western Australian Premier Mark McGowan said McGuire was not considered essential to the staging of the grand final.

Port will host the Bulldogs at Adelaide Oval this Saturday night, with the winner to play Melbourne or Geelong for the premiership in the September 25 grand final at Perth’s Optus Stadium.
