Kirstie Allsopp hits back at being branded ‘out of touch rich b***h’ for ‘ludicrous’ views
Location, Location, Location presenter Kirstie Allsopp has taken to Twitter to hit back at claims that she’s a “rich b***h” following comments she made in an interview which came out over the weekend. Speaking about the housing crisis, the TV star, 50, claimed that young people can get on the property ladder if they cancel their Netflix and gym subscriptions and forgo takeaway coffees.
She also suggested that they’d be able to save for a deposit if they moved in with their parents for three years or decided to look elsewhere for cheaper homes.
Kirstie added that it required “enormous sacrifices” but said that she often becomes “enraged” when young people say they can’t afford to buy.
The TV personality’s comments sparked huge backlash online as some branded her remarks “out of touch”.
This morning, Kirstie hit back at a social media user who branded her a “rich b***h” following her comments.

The Channel 4 star wrote back in view of her 426,000 followers: “Either you think I’m an out of touch rich b***h who doesn’t get how hard it is to buy a home in many parts of the UK or you don’t.”
She then went on to claim that her words had been taken out of context.
Kirstie ended: “In the end it’s down to whether you believe in my empathy, understanding & experience or not.”
The star went on to retweet a post from a social media user who took issue with her comments.
She told Daily Mail: “To tell tenants to move elsewhere in order to be able to afford a home is a ludicrous and destructive opinion that shows no understanding of renting in Scotland or the realities of tenants’ lives.
“As tenants, we live where we can access jobs, as tenants we live in our communities and we belong to local neighbourhoods. To tell us to move shows contempt for our needs, sense of belonging or contributions to local areas.”
Following the backlash, Kirstie took to the social media platform in an attempt to clarify her comments.
Speaking about the Channel 4 property shows which she hosts, Kirstie simply told her critics to turn her off.
