Kim Kardashian and LeBron James watching Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami debut

A star-studded line-up of celebrities including Kim Kardashian, David Beckham and LeBron James watched on as Lionel Messi made his Inter Miami debut against Cruz Azul.

The Argentine started from the bench before eventually scoring the winning goal in the 94th minute as his side won 2-1 in the League Cup on Friday night.

Kim Kardashian posed with club co-owner David Beckham and Victoria as she attended the game alongside her son Saint. She told Apple TV Saint was the driving force behind their appearance.

According to the Daily Mail, she said: “All summer we’re going to different exhibition games. I played soccer for five or six years. I was goalie – and center-forward –  I wasn’t bad, you know.”

When asked whether Saint had a favourite player, Kardashian said it was Inter Miami’s new number 10, Lionel Messi, regarded as one of the sport’s greatest players.

It isn’t the first time the pair have seen one of Messi’s teams play either. In March they were spotted watching Paris Saint Germain win 2-0 against Rennes at the Parc de Princes.

NBA icon LeBron James was also among the A-list crowd at the DRV PNK Stadium. Sporting a white-patterned bucket hat and t-shirt he could be seen embracing Messi before the match.

Another sporting star to attend the fixture was long-time Florida resident Serena Williams, who appeared alongside pal Kardashian.

Messi’s fans will have left the Fort Lauderdale stadium happier than their Mexican counterparts as the World Cup-winner broke the deadlock in the dying moments of the game.

Miami drew first blood after 44 minutes when Robert Taylor edged the team ahead. Only for Uriel Antuna to pull it level after 65 minutes.

But Messi’s quality shone through as he scored a perfectly placed free-kick to leave his side taking home all three points.
