Kewell sacked after just seven matches in charge
Australian soccer great Harry Kewell has been axed by English club Barnet after just seven games as coach.
The 42-year-old was only appointed to the role in June, having been sacked from his role with Oldham three months earlier.
Barnet has had a horror start to the season in the fifth tier competition, sitting 22nd out of 23 teams, having lost five and drawn two of its seven matches.

“It was clear how much Harry Kewell wanted to have a positive impact, but ultimately the results and the poor start to the season have dictated our decision,” said the club’s head of football, Dean Brennan.
“The plan for this season was for Barnet FC to be challenging in the top half of the table and that is still very much our aim.”

It’s been a miserable run for Barnet, who finished 22nd last year with just eight wins from 42 matches, only saved from relegation by the abandonment of the National League due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Kewell is the fourth manager to depart the club in the last 14 months, with Darren Currie resigning last August, Peter Beadle sacked in December, and Tim Flowers sacked in March.
Only a week ago Kewell was hopeful of getting the club back on track.
“It is tough, it’s fun and yes, we haven’t got off to the greatest of starts, but we’re down with about nine injuries at the moment so it’s a little bit unlucky,” he told Optus Sport.
“But we’re slowly getting them back and hopefully we can start to progress that little bit more.”
