Kerry Katona has revealed that a film about her ‘colourful’ life is in the works, reportedly for Netflix.

The former Atomic Kitten singer, 42, has always been frank about her life since first finding fame over 20 years ago.

From chart success, winning I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! in 2004 and becoming a mum to her five kids, to her three marriages, bankruptcy, recent medical issues and past struggles with drugs – which claimed the life of her third husband, George Kay, in 2014 – Kerry has never shied away from sharing both the good and bad times.

Her sixth book, memoir Whole Again – Love, Life and Me was published in October 2022, and now the OnlyFans star has said it’s going to be the basis of a new film.

Joking that there’s enough material ‘for a sequel or prequel’ too, Kerry also already has an idea of the popular young A-List actress and Oscar nominee that she’d love to play her.

Talking about the exciting venture, Kerry said: ‘I’ve had a colourful life. I’ve been married three times, divorced twice, widowed once. I’ve come from nothing, become a millionaire three times, and bankrupt twice, and now Netflix have got my life story, and want to turn it into a film.

‘I can’t say too much more yet, but watch this space!’ she teased to entrepreneur and host Matt Haycox on his podcast, The Matt Haycox Show.

Expanding further on the film, Kerry wrote in her latest column for new! magazine: ‘I’ve got two screenwriters who have copies of my book and are turning into it a film. I’ve been through everything, you name it, there’s enough material for a sequel, or a prequel.’

‘When I was recording my audio book, I said to my producer, “You couldn’t make this s**t up, could you?” Even Steven Spielberg couldn’t write this!’ she added.

And in terms of who would take on the role modelled after her and her life?

‘I would love for Florence Pugh to play me, she’s the right height, has blonde hair and is British,’ Kerry out forward in the publication, describing the Oppenheimer star, 27, as ‘great’.

Kerry recently revealed that she needed help reading and writing until she was in her twenties, with Atomic Kitten’s manager having to read out restaurant menus to her back in the day.

It wasn’t until the reality star actually moved to Ireland in the early 2000s with ex-husband Brian McFadden that she gained her literacy skills, booking herself onto typing courses.

Kerry made the revelation while chatting to Ireland AM on Virgin Media One.

‘I remember when I first moved to Ireland with Brian, I was pregnant, I couldn’t read or write. I was dyslexic,’ she began.

‘With Brian being on tour all the time, I did a typing course and I taught myself how to read and write properly.’

Host Muireann O’Connell responded by saying she was ‘astounded’ to learn that about Kerry.

‘That’s amazing to have done that,’ she praised.

Kerry went on to recall how dyslexia – a learning difficulty that primarily affects the skills involved in accurate and fluent word reading and spelling – affected her in the girl group.

‘Being in Atomic Kitten, bearing in mind I had four sets of foster parents, three refuges, I went to eight different schools, which I was very rarely in because my mum never let me go to school really, I couldn’t even spell the word “orange” at one point,’ she shared.
