Kerry Katona was so overwhelmed with guilt for admitting she didn’t like Molly-Mae Hague and Tommy Fury’s baby name that she has issued a heartfelt apology.

The former Atomic Kitten star, 42, joined the debate on the Love Island star’s daughter’s name this week, after the pair revealed they had named their baby girl Bambi.

Molly had previously teased the name by saying people would either love it or hate it, so was likely prepared for Bambi dividing opinion – but still disabled the comments on her Instagram announcement as some began mocking it.

Among those not quite understanding Molly and Tommy’s choice of name was Kerry, who wrote in her OK! magazine column that they should consider changing it so she wouldn’t get ‘stick’ from kids at school.

‘I think Bambi Fury sounds a bit ridiculous. It reminds me of the Disney film where the mother gets shot!’ she wrote.

Now however Kerry is more than a bit regretful for what she wrote, as she took to Instagram to ask Molly for her forgiveness, saying she feels like a ‘w****r’.

Speaking on her Instagram stories, Kerry tagged Molly’s account in the video and said it had ‘really played on my mind’ since she had written it, and ‘when I saw it in my column I thought “Bloody Hell Kerry, that sounds a bit harsh!’

‘I was trying to be a comedian and sometime when you mix the two it doesn’t come across very well,’ she said, adding: ‘Bambi Fury is a great name.’

Clearly feeling guilty, Kerry said again that it had ‘really played on my mind and that she would ‘never want to bring anybody down.’

‘I would never want to bully anybody or hurt anybody. I’m not that kind of person in the slightest. Sometimes I’ll say something that I think is funny and it actually isn’t.’

Poking fun at herself, she said she couldn’t say much as ‘my son is named after bloody Max Clifford… that says it all really!’

Following the video, Kerry shared a screengrab of an article where Molly-Mae spoke about how ‘nasty’ some people had been about her daughter’s name.

The Eternal Flame singer explained she had seen the article and it ‘made me feel like a right w****r.’

‘I of all people should know better! Was trying to come across as funny but instead came across as a t*t.’

Kerry herself has five children, and joked she shouldn’t be talking about anyone else’s baby names as she named her son after the late Max Clifford (Picture: @kerrykatona7

She insisted that she ‘actually really likes it’ but ‘I was just trying to be funny… my deepest apologies.’

Bambi is of Italian origin and is supposedly derived from the word ‘bambino’, meaning ‘child,’ though many would first think of the cartoon deer, a picture of which Molly and Tommy have placed in their daughter’ room.

Discussing what she would call her child in a previous YouTube Q&A, the PrettyLittleThing creative director said: ‘It’s not made up, it’s totally not made up, I can’t explain it.

‘It’s just not a name that’s ever been used before. It’s very very different and rare and you’re either going to love it or hate it.

‘I’ve had the name picked out since I was a baby girl myself. It’s always been a dream baby girl name and luckily when I met Tommy and I told him the name I’ve always dreamt of using, he absolutely loved it too.’
