Kerr, Miedema and Hemp nominated for Women’s PFA Player of the Year gong
SAM KERR and Vivianne Miedema are among the WSL stars in contention for the PFA Women’s Player of the Year gong.
Pernille Harder and Manchester City’s Lauren Hemp are also among six top tier aces shortlisted, but Gunners ace Beth Mead is a surprise omission.
Mead, 27, who made history by becoming the first woman player to score a hat-trick for England at Wembley, has been on fire for her club in recent months.
The Yorkshire-born Arsenal ace enjoyed a standout season for Jonas Eidevall’s side last term bagging 11 goals and eights in 22 league games.
And her efforts helped push the Gunners close to winning a fourth WSL title before they finished one point behind champions Chelsea.
Kerr, 28, and Miedema, 25, made the PFA’s shortlist after finishing as the two highest scorers in the league last term.
Chelsea striker Kerr claimed a Golden Boot for a second successive season after scoring 20 goals in 20 games.
The Australia skipper was also on target twice in this year’s FA Cup final helping the Blues to a 3-2 triumph against Manchester City.
Other stars included on the PFA’s list include City players Alex Greenwood, 28, and Hemp.
The England aces impressed during their club’s Conti Cup win this year with Hemp, 21, a constant threat down the wing.

And the duo helped City battle back from a tough start to their league season to claim a third-place finish and a Champions League spot.
Chelsea and Arsenal midfielders Harder, 29, and Little, 31, are also up for the PFA’s top prize this year.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s Ella Toone, 22, is one of six WSL talents nominated for the Women’s Young Player of the Year award.
Other aces on the list include Chelsea’s Lauren James, Arsenal’s Frida Maanum, Tottenham forward Jessica Naz and Brighton defender Maya Le Tissier.
