Kemnal Academy Trust teacher caught with extreme animal porn

Gavin Marsh, 33, was employed by the Kemnal Academies Trust, based in Sidcup, and taught at Salmestone Primary School, in Margate.

On February 9, 2021, police contacted the school to inform them that Marsh had been arrested.

In court he pleaded guilty to possessing extreme pornographic images of intercourse or oral sex with a dead or alive animal.

A Teaching Regulation Agency misconduct hearing took place on March 22 to consider his future in the profession, Marsh was not present.

A panel was told that Marsh used a ‘chat app’ to talk to friends that live abroad and met people online with similar interests such as sports.

From this, he said he got invited to groups which shared different things and although he did not play an active role in the group it was from those that the extreme pornography came to be in his possession.

A statement from the TRA said: “The panel found that Mr Marsh was responsible for the possession of explicit sexual images involving animals. Although these were not indecent images of a child, the panel noted that these were extreme pornographic images.”

They added: “Although the panel noted there were no safeguarding concerns in relation to the safeguarding of children, the panel considered that Mr Marsh’s behaviour in viewing illegal images was incompatible with the behaviour expected of a teacher.”

Marsh was therefore prohibited from teaching, and will not be entitled to apply for restoration of his eligibility to teach at any point.
