Kelly Ripa denies almost dying during sex with Mark Consuelos at Jimmy Buffett’s house
Kelly Ripa told a bombshell story in her forthcoming book about a time she passed out while having sex with her husband, Mark Consuelos.
But the daytime talk show host slammed accusations that she almost died while doing the deed at Jimmy Buffet’s house.
Ripa denied the rumors on “Live with Kelly and Ryan” Wednesday, saying that she and her husband were not at the “Margaritaville” singer’s home when she passed out and woke up in the hospital with two ovarian cysts.
“No, I did not almost die having sex at Jimmy Buffett’s house,” the 51-year-old host said.
Reps for Ripa declined to comment to The Post.
In “Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories,” which hits bookstores Sept. 27, Ripa told the tale of when, about six months after the birth of her first child in 1997, she and her husband were engaging in an early-morning sex session. She then lost consciousness because she was suffering from two large cysts growing on her ovaries.
“Sex can be so traumatic I think, and yet one of us is completely undaunted,” Ripa recalled. “There he is, happily munching on the saltines now and ordering a second apple juice. Mark could be at a movie, or a spa. Instead, I’m flat on my back wondering when the other two cysts will burst.”
However, the former “All My Children” star said Wednesday she isn’t sure how the story put her at Jimmy Buffet’s house and escalated to a matter of life and death.
“I’m talking to the outlet that printed this specifically,” Ripa said. “If you’re not going to bother to read the book and you’re going to read an article about the book, then at least read the [right] article.”
Ripa’s co-host Ryan Seacrest, who was at the doctor for a knee injury when she told him of the embellished tale, joked it was a great story regardless of its validity.
“But what a great story,” joked Seacrest. “My knee was instantly healed!”
Ripa agreed that it was “an incredible story, and I wish it were true,” but “it’s just not.”
