Kelly Clarkson serenades LA shopping center customers with a surprise concert
Kelly Clarkson surprised several LA residents at the Platform shopping center Thursday with an impromptu concert, reports Entertainment Weekly.
Video of the “American Idol” alum inside a coffee shop, salad bar and bakery went viral as Clarkson, 41, threw a wrench into people’s day to promote her upcoming album “Chemistry.”
Complete with backup singers, the “Stronger” muse gave fans a small taste of her 10th studio album by performing songs such as “Favorite Kind of High” and “Me.”
Arjun Rai, a tech guru, said that he was in the middle of a work meeting when the “Since U Been Gone” singer strode up and burst out singing.
“@kellyclarkson During My Meetings in LA raising capital for my startup @SelfTact / @WoofyHQ. Shooosh,” tweeted the CEO.
Following the performance, Rai said she went up to the cash register and ordered a vanilla latte.
Another person made a TikTok of the singer which was viewed 159,000 times.
“When @kellyclarkson does a surprise serenade at lunch!!! Glad I got Sweetgreen today,” laughed the user.
The songstress’ new album — out June 23 — covers her seven-year marriage to Brandon Blackstock.
Clarkson claims the music in the album is “definitely very honest” and that some of the tracks written in the immediate aftermath of her very public divorce were “too truth-telling” to make the finished product.
“I know people will hear this record and be like, ‘Oh, damn, she went there,’” Clarkson said to the outlet. “And I’m like, ‘No, I promise you I didn’t.’”
Her upcoming album is not the only major news for Clarkson.
According to the singer, she plans to move “The Kelly Clarkson Show” from Los Angeles to New York so she and her family can get a “fresh start.”
“Covid pointed out [that] being isolated and so far from your family… that’s not good for anyone,” said the “Breakaway” songstress while appearing on Nancy O’Dell’s “TalkShopLive”. “And my family is East Coast, they’re North Carolina-based.”
The news of the move came after a report from Rolling Stone revealed that several of the singer’s staffers were left “traumatized” after working with a certain producer on the show.
“In my 20 years in the entertainment industry, I’ve always led with my heart and what I believed to be right,” she wrote in a post shared on Instagram. “I love my team at ‘The Kelly Clarkson Show,’ and to find out that anyone is feeling unheard and or disrespected on this show is unacceptable.”
