Keepsake jewelry pieces and a love for music

For the young talents that make up GMA Network’s Sparkle Teens, making the cut was the relatively easy part. The child actors-turned-teenagers and several completely fresh faces now have to find a way to stand out, make their mark.

Sparkle consultant and star maker Johnny Manahan has said, “They have the enthusiasm and willingness to sacrifice for their craft. Willing sila mag-workshops, kumuha ng advanced classes [to improve].”

Three of them—Liana Mae, Keisha Serna and John Clifford—are determined to do just that.

Liana, who appears in “Sparkle University: Story 2,” said she wants to be part of a teleserye with other Sparkle Teens. She also enjoys dancing and dreams of performing onstage.

“Gusto kong mag-grow bilang artista and ma-explore pa and aking craft sa acting,” she said.

Keisha, who is an influencer, also wants to become a versatile actress and dancer. She said her dancing skills have room for improvement.

Like Liana, John Clifford, who appears in “Pepito Manaloto” and “All Out Sundays,” said he wants to act in a series with his fellow Sparkle Teens. “Gusto ko talagang ma-improve ang singing, dancing, acting and communication skills ko. Ngayon, patuloy kaming nagwo-workshop [to hone our skills],” John said.

We asked the three what their favorite things are. Liana and Keisha chose pieces of meaningful jewelry, while John said it was his AirPods.

Lots of memories

The chain of Liana’s gold necklace may have snapped, but she said she still keeps it safely tucked inside her wallet. “Sobrang mahalaga nito sa akin dahil ang daming memories na nabuo simula nung binili ko ito. It reminds me of someone important in my life. When I look at it, I feel happy because I remember that person.”

Meanwhile, Keisha said she treasures a pair of gold earrings, a gift from her mother. “The earrings have an ‘8’ design and are special kasi lucky number ko ‘yun. I was born in 2008.”

Even if she has to wear different earrings to pair with her outfits, she still brings her favorite pair with her.

John’s AirPods are special for him not just because he gets to listen to his favorite tracks on the go.

“I bought these for myself years ago. They were one of the first things I bought with my own money.”

A pair of AirPods by Apple can cost from P10,000 to almost P15,000, if you purchase the latest generation.

John said he’d be able to identify his because it comes in a special case. “Medyo maliit s’ya kaya there are times I misplace them, but I always end up finding them naman. Dala-dala ko talaga siya everywhere I go: sa taping, flights or road trips kasi mahilig talaga akong makinig ng music and I love to sing as well,” he said.
