Just when we thought Keanu Reeves couldn’t get any cooler – his band Dogstar has reunited to release new music for the first time in 20 years.

Dogstar announced their return on Wednesday after giving their first live vocal performance since 2002 back in May.

Keanu plays bass guitar in the trio while Bret Domrose takes lead vocals and Rob Mailhouse plays drums.

The Los Angeles-based group occasionally met up at Rob’s house to jam together but took an extended break after their second album.

Covid-19 brought the group back together, as the Matrix actor and his friends enjoyed eight-hour rehearsals and intense songwriting sessions.

‘We are so excited to announce our new album Somewhere Between The Power Lines And Palm Trees out on October 6th on our label Dillon Street Records,’ Dogstar’s Instagram account said.

‘A very limited quantity of signed vinyl is available in the Official Shop – act quick!

‘Listen to the lead single Everything Turns Around & watch the music video now.

‘Next month, we kick off our 25+ date headline tour in North America & Japan. Get tickets this Friday at 10am local time.’

With such a beloved actor in the group, it’s no surprise the lead single will come with a music video starring the John Wick legend.

The band originally released two albums in the mid-1990s into the early 2000s, they even opened for David Bowie at his 1995 Hollywood Palladium gig.

Our Little Visionary, their debut album, was only released in Japan despite global popularity thanks to Keanu’s fame.

Dogstar performed at multiple gigs and some festivals, including the 1999 Glastonbury which was headlined by Skunk Anansie, REM, and Manic Street Preachers.

They actually got pelted with fruit at the gig and were never invited back – we hope that’s not an indication of the album to come.

The band announced their return last June with a post which simply said: ‘We’re back.’

On Tuesday, the band played at The Roxy in Los Angeles, having featured at the BottleRock Napa Valley music festival earlier this year.

We can’t wait to hear the new stuff from Keanu and the Dogstar boys.
