Katie Hopkins tour date cancelled after just 24 hours

Katie Hopkins, 47, has been making plans to travel around the country, but has since had to scrap one date on her upcoming live theatre tour after just 24 hours thanks to a backlash from furious locals. The cancellation was prompted after a petition created by local residents where she planned to take her show for one date said she was not welcome in their town.

Katie was initially booked to host Katie Hopkins Live in 2023 at the Bedford Corn Exchange, Bedford, some time next year.

However, local residents launched a petition against the former Apprentice contestant and accused her of being “Islamophobic and homophobic”.

The petition to stop Katie from coming to Bedford, which began on a website called 38 Degrees, gained 50 signatures calling for her show to be cancelled within 24 hours.

The next day, a Bedford Borough Council spokesperson announced that the event had been cancelled on the grounds that it did not support the city’s diverse community.

In the company statement announcing the deal on Monday, Elon wrote: “Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated.

“I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans.

“Twitter has tremendous potential – I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.”

Katie, who has been a source of controversy due to what are said to be her “extreme, right wing views”, got her start on TV when she joined The Apprentice in 2007.

Before she was banned from Twitter, she was known for voicing her contentious views and often retweeted right-wing figures like former President Donald Trump, who was banned from the platform last January.

As well as her stint on The Apprentice, Kate also appeared on the fifteenth season of Celebrity Big Brother, finishing as runner-up.

The 2015 series eventually saw model and reality star Kate Price walk away as the winner.

In more recent years, Katie was seen being deported from Australia after she had been caught deliberately breaching Covid health regulations in July, 2021.
