Kate warned she has ‘difficult line to tread’ with Coronation wardrobe
Kate, Princess of Wales may have a “tricky line to tread” while planning her Coronation outfit, according to a fashion expert.
Miranda Holder is a renowned stylist who has dressed celebrities such as popstar Boy George and actress Vanessa Williams.
On TikTok, Miranda has become popular for analysing the details behind royal fashion and, in a recent video, explained that Kate, 41, may be facing a “Coronation conundrum” as she looks to avoid upstaging King Charles or Queen Camilla on their big day.
Miranda said: “Kate is probably the perfect daughter-in-law for Charles, and the two of them are reportedly very close.
“She sticks to royal etiquette perfectly, never committing an awkward faux pas, the perfect wife and mother to William and the children and thanks to her beauty and elegant style, has become an unofficial poster girl for the Royal Family, bringing them new fans who are excited to see her fashion.”

The fashion expert explained: “The excitement surrounding Kate’s outfit for the coronation say is building – she is after all one of the most photographed women in the world, utterly beautiful with impeccable style.”
However, Miranda added that Kate “possibly needs to be careful that she doesn’t pull focus from the King. It is after all his big day”.
Miranda went on to explain that conflict may have risen in Charles’s previous marriage to Princess Diana because attention was drawn away from the royal.
She said: “It is thought that one of the reasons for the breakdown of the marriage to Diana is because the spotlight adored her and she eventually eclipsed Charles’s own fame.
“This might be one of the reasons that Camilla is such a great match for Charles. Not only does she make Charles laugh a lot, but she also dresses modestly but still looks fabulous. However, she never attempts to outshine the King.”
Miranda has made a prediction that for this reason, Kate will dress in something “stunning as always” but perhaps in a gown that is “slightly lower key”.
The fashion expert said: “She’ll probably wear a darker, more muted colour to not stand out too much.”
Miranda has said she expects Kate’s outfit to be “basically the opposite” of the bright teal coat dress the Princess of Wales wore on St Patrick’s Day this year.
As part of royal tradition, both Kate and William visit the Irish Guard on St Patrick’s Day every year as William used to be the regiment’s honorary Colonel in Chief, and Kate would always wear dark green coat dress to the occasion.
After the death of Queen Elizabeth II, William is now the honorary Colonel-in-Chief of the Welsh Guards due to his title of Princes of Wales, and Kate has inherited the new honorary title for the Irish Guard.
This year Kate changed her outfit to celebrate her new honorary title by wearing a bright teal dress coat, which has ties to the Irish Guard’s uniform as they wear a bright teal feathered plume on bearskin hats.
Miranda said: “Kate wore a bright teal to stand out because the day was all about her which when you compared to previous years, when she is wearing a more subdued and darker green where she stands out far less.”
However, Miranda added that “time will obviously tell” if Kate decided to draw back her outfit or not for the Coronation.
The fashion expert ended her video by saying: “I have no doubt that much thought, including these ones, has gone into Kate’s outfit.”
