Kate, Princess of Wales’s styling accessories for wearing high heels for hours
Kate, Princess of Wales often stands in high heels for hours at a time while making public appearances.
To ensure comfort, etiquette expert Myka Meier says Kate has a few styling tricks.
To prevent her feet from slipping out of her heels, Myka said the royal wears non-slip tights.
The sheer stockings from John Lewis retail for £6 and feature gel strips on the bottom of each foot that grip the soles of shoes.
Kate was spotted seemingly wearing the tights while on a royal tour of Canada in July 2011.
The photo shows clear, gel-like trips peeking out over the side of Princess of Wales’ pointed-toe Tabitha Simmons heels.
Myka also told Insider the Princess of Wales has been known to wear Alice Bow insoles created by British designer Rachel Bowditch.
According to Alice Bow’s website, the slip-in leather soles are designed to cushion your feet so you can comfortably wear any shoes, including high heels, for hours.
In 2015, an unnamed source told Vanity Fair’s royal correspondent Katie Nicholl that Kate had “ordered a couple of packets” of the Alice Bow insoles, as “she thinks they are great”.
At the time, a spokesperson for Alice Bow told Vanity Fair that the company could not comment on “talk of the [then] Duchess wearing [its] insoles.”
The spokesperson added: “We have seen a massive surge in site visits, however.”
Alongside padded tights and insoles, Kate is believed to buy a pair of heels in three different sizes; a five, 5.5 and a six, as the fit varies from brand to brand.
It’s also likely that Kate sizes up her strappy shoes and sandals as these are usually used in warmer weather, so the bigger size avoids discomfort from more swollen feet.
Alongside different heel sizes, top podiatrist Dina Gohil praised Kate for her different variety of heel heights.
She said: “I feel Kate does an excellent job of wearing shoes that vary in heel height, shape and material to best suit her requirements and needs for the occasion or event she is attending.
“For example, wearing heeled wedges with an ankle strap can feel comfortable on the foot, and likewise wearing boots or trainers can be a wonderful option for the feet if you are walking on different grounds and for long days.”
She also “changes her footwear if the occasion requires it”, for example when playing sport, Dina told Hello.
