Kate & Pippa Middleton voted nation’s favourite sisters – despite being ‘very competitive’

Ever since Kate Middleton married her boyfriend of 10 years, Prince William, in 2011 at Westminster Abbey, and Pippa Middleton was sprung out into the spotlight due to her sensational maid of honour dress, the Middleton sisters have been loved by the British public. Whether it is them attending Wimbledon matches together or being each other’s emotional support at their respective weddings, the Middleton sisters are certainly close and royal fans cannot get enough of their bond. In a new survey to mark the launch of the new Kindi Kids Scented Sisters range, the nation’s best loved sisters have been revealed.

Kate and Pippa Middleton came on top in the survey, with 23 percent of the vote.

Born just two years apart, the two sisters have remained exceptionally close, despite Kate’s demanding role as the Duchess of Cambridge.

A royal biographer has noted how close Kate and Pippa were as children.

Kate Nicholl published ‘Kate: The Future Queen’ in 2013, and wrote: “The Middleton’s were an exceptionally close family, and Carole and Mike enjoyed the vibrancy of their children, the stories and noise and laughter.”

According to Nicholl, they ate dinner together every night, with the children helping to set the table.

When the children were little they usually opted to go sailing in Norfolk during the holidays, as well as hiking and picnicking in the Berkshire countryside.

The Middleton’s also liked to rent an old cottage in the Lake District where the active family would spend time without any electricity or running water.

Kate and Pippa both enjoyed going to boarding school as children, and so would both spend at least five days away from the family home.

The sisters were in the same Brownie troop, and at school they both played sports and learned piano and flute.

Even when Pippa proved the more accomplished athlete and student, Kate was her biggest fan.

“They had such drive and were very competitive, particularly Pippa, but never against each other,” Denise Allford, who coached the girls in sports, told Nicholl.

She continued: “They were very much a team.”

Although Kate much preferred hockey to studying in the classroom, both she and her sister got along well with their teachers.

All three siblings boarded at St Andrew’s prep school in Pangbourne, Berkshire, where they were in school plays and attended summer drama camp together.

Runners-up in the Kindi Kids Scented Sisters poll were Queen Elizabeth and the late Princess Margaret, who gained 17 percent of the nation’s vote.

The survey polled 1,000 females with sisters and explored the unique bond between female siblings.

This revealed that 46 percent of women describe their sister as their best friend, and 57 percent said the connection they had with their sister could never be broken.

Interestingly, 42 percent of those polled said they view their best friend like a sister, and 37 percent said this was true especially when it comes to friendships formed during school days.

A fiercely loyal 58 percent of females said they always had their best friend’s back, whether they were blood related or not and 56 percent said they have gone through highs and lows with some of their best girlfriends.

A spokesperson for Kindi Kids Scented Sisters said: “The research highlights just how much affection we have for the sisterly bond whether through family relationships or best friends.

“The research also confirmed the importance of the unique sisterly connection that stays with sisters and friends from childhood to adulthood.”
