Today, the Princess of Wales stunned in all-white at an event to mark the reopening of the National Portrait Gallery.

The Mayfair art museum has been closed for the past three years while extensive refurbishment works took place, as part of a project called Inspiring People.

Kate Middleton wore a white boucle midi dress to the unveiling this afternoon, where she was shown the ‘comprehensive redisplay of the Collection from the Tudors to now, combined with a complete refurbishment of the building…and a new state of the art Learning Centre.’

As a patron of the cultural landmark, the Princess got the chance to tour the cultural venue two days ahead of it being reopened to the public, joining children in a multi-sensory workshop focused on the world of Beatrix Potter.

The look she chose for the day mirrors a number of similar white ensembles favoured by the royal. After donning a white Zara boucle blazer to a sporting event, Kate officially started the trend, and she’s since been spotted in almost identical pieces by the likes of Self-Portrait and Alexander McQueen.

This version is actually a one-piece designed to look like a two-piece, also by Self-Portrait and featuring a tweed button-down jacket with a fluid pleated chiffon skirt.

It’s available for £352 (reduced fom £503) via MyTheresa, although it’s likely to sell-out now it’s had the royal seal of approval.

As for footwear, Catherine paired her outfit with a pair of £645 Aquazzura Bow Tie Pumps she’s worn before – incidentally, a favourite shoe of sister-in-law Meghan Markle.

Tomorrow (Wednesday June 21) marks Kate’s husband, Prince William’s, 41st birthday.

The couple – along with their three children, George, Charlotte and Louis – are expected to celebrate with King Charles and Queen Camilla, just days after the Prince of Wales committed to building social housing on the Duchy of Cornwall’s land.

Royal fans also praised Kate and William for their displays of affection during the Order of the Garter ceremony and procession at Windsor Castle earlier in the week.

The Wales’s shared sweet smiles as William made his debut as Prince of Wales, which onlookers compared to their appearance at the same event back in 2014.

Catherine’s look on the day was a monochrome polka dot Alessandra Rich dress, described as a dead ringer for the Victor Edelstein ensemble worn by Princess Diana to Royal Ascot in 1988.

We’ve seen the Princess of Wales at a number of engagements recently sportingthese formal looks, alongside catching glimpses of her off-duty style, such as a sporty Lululemon outfit for the rugby and a summery animal print midi dress while visiting Nuneaton.
