Kate Middleton upped the seaside style stakes on a trip to Scarborough today in a stunning top-to-toe camel outfit.

The Prince and Princess of Wales paid a visit to the coastal town to launch a new fund for mental health initiatives – making this the town’s first royal engagement for more than a decade.

For the seaside visit, Kate wore a chic camel £460 coat from Max&Co, paired with a fine knit dress in the same tone.

Her accessories were from the same palette: A £295 DeMellier London handbag, £60 woven waist belt from Boden and brown court heels – as well as a poppy, ahead of Remembrance Sunday.

During their visit, William and Kate will meet with a variety of local organisations who will benefit from the funding – launched by The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales and the Two Ridings Community Foundation.

Today’s ensemble from the Princess of Wales is in-keeping with her classic style – with a tailored coat as well as a sophisticated midi dress and heels.

We’ve seen her wear similar looks before – including for a visit to Lancashire in January this year, where she wore a knitted dress and camel coat with boots.

If you’re wondering how to achieve a colourblock camel look, Farrah-May Archer Boadi, a styling Team Lead at Stitch Fix UK, tells Metro.co.uk: ‘Kate’s chic all-camel look can feel like a tricky one to master. However, as we’ve seen with Kate’s items of choice, the key to the block-colour trend is to mix and match the textures in your ensemble.

‘Pair a tailored wool coat with a fine knitted dress and patent shoes to match, just as Kate has done so perfectly. If you want to opt for something a little more casual, this look would work just as well with tailored camel trousers and a chunky camel knit – given temperatures aren’t as low as they could be, you might prefer to lose a layer.

‘Finally, add some accessories. Kate has gone for hoop-style earrings, a tan belt and a camel mini bag – adding to the elegance of her outfit. Depending on the overall look you’re going for, you can really dress it up or down with these simple touches.

‘Gold jewellery in particular can perfectly complement a monochrome camel outfit, as will tan accessories, or you could even add a beanie or scarf in a similar camel hue to complement the overall look and again, add some texture.’

FASHION EDITOR’S VERDICT:

Krissy Turner, Fashion Editor at eliza.co.uk, gives her verdict on Kate’s camel colourblocking.

‘If there’s anyone who can teach us a lesson in polished autumnal dressing, it’s the Duchess.

‘My main fashion takeaway from today’s look? Dressing in one shade head-to-toe is the easiest way to look expensive.

‘OK, Kate’s coat is actually on the pricey side, but if your budget is a little more M&S than Max&Co, going for a tonal outfit always looks more expensive than the price tags suggest.

‘It looks like you’ve made a big effort, when really you’ve just thrown on items in the same shade – win, win.

‘I’d swap the heeled courts (a bit too chilly out for me) for knee-high boots, and add my trusty Skims bodysuit underneath as a warm base layer.’
