Kate Middleton left ‘taken aback’ by personal questions from James Bond actor Rami Malek

Rami Malek, 40, has opened up about an interaction he had with the Duchess of Cambridge at the BAFTA Awards back in February 2019. The Hollywood star asked Kate, 39, about whether she found the event “exhausting”, and even offered to babysit her children.

The James Bond star was asked about the Royal couple during his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live yesterday, as the stars had been discussing Kate and her husband Prince William’s presence at the London premiere of No Time to Die.

In Daniel Craig’s final Bond film, Rami plays the villainous Lyutsifer Safin, whose poisonous antics must be stopped by agent 007.

However, back in 2019, the actor portrayed the legendary Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody – and it was coming off the back of this performance that he first met the royal pair.

Speaking to Jimmy, 53, he said: “I just looked at Princess Kate at one point, and I said, ‘This must be exhausting.’

“And she said, ‘Why?’”

Referring to Prince Louis, who was only 10 months old at the time of the BAFTAs, he continued: “[I asked,] ‘You just had a baby, right?’

“I think she was taken aback.”

The star also noted that the Duke and Duchess certainly did “their homework” when it came to learning the filmography of the actors present, which is perhaps why the royal was so surprised to be asked personal questions about her own life.

The Oscar winner continued: “They’re so careful, but it was so cool.

“I think I caught her off guard for a second.

“And, you know, had that look of—in the most elegant, professional, royal way—’Yes, it’s a lot, having a kid.’”

Rami also revealed that he had even offered to babysit their children George, Charlotte, and Louis so that the couple could enjoy a much-needed night out.

“I said, ‘If you ever need a day off, some time off, I’m back up for you’.

“She’s like, ‘What do you mean?’

“I go, ‘I can babysit, you guys go out, have a good time.’”

“For me, I just try to treat them like I would anybody else,” he added.

“I’m sure a dose of normality is probably something that is quite refreshing to them.”
